When it comes to inside shutters or outside shutters why not consider our Australian Made Western Red Cedar Plantation Shutters.
What to expect in a DIY Kit:
Our high quality western red cedar shutters come to you in kit form much like furniture that you assemble yourself. They come flat packed, ready for you to assemble with the supplied screws along with comprehensive easy to follow printable and video assembly instructions. The cedar is already sanded when it arrives, the components are pre-cut and machined to make a natural lightweight wooden shutter to the size you need. A good quality PVA wood glue and a battery drill are required for assembly then the shutter is ready for you to apply an oil, stain or paint finish of your choosing. ShutterKits are more than happy to provide advice & tips on coating options.

Blade/louvre size:
The DIY kit shutters are available in two moveable blade sizes both of which are elliptical in shape – 68mm & 90mm.
Blade/ louvre tilting options:
There are two blade tilting options:
Clearview: is an aluminium bar that links all the louvre blades together and generally faces the window side once assembled so you can't see it from inside the room if installed inside. When you move one blade to open or close, they all open or close together.
Tilt Rod: is a rod that acts like a handle to open and close the blades once assembled. The blades are stapled in the position that you prefer – either centrally or off-set to the left hand side of the shutter or off-set to the right. They are linked together by an aluminium bar and then that bar is inserted into the cedar tilt rod.
Hardware & Fittings:
ShutterKits can help with fittings such as hinges and magnetic catches. These hardware items are generally all that's required for fitting straight into a reveal situation. Our hinges are stainless steel our magnets are chrome L shaped striker plates with a bullet magnet. They're extremely powerful little suckers.
If you choose to have sliding shutters or folding on a tracking system we can supply the fittings for these types of installation too.
Fixed in place plantation shutters are also a popular option. We can also supply a 17mm x 17mm cedar beading that ties in nicely with the timber shutters to hold them into place once assembled.
We're always here to help with any questions, project or tricky situation you have to work out. Please don't hesitate to contact us.
