Like most things, maintaining your external Aluminium plantation shutters is important too...

A quick dusting every now and then to remove built up dirt and dust works a treat. For those smudges or marks that don't come away with a duster, cleaning your shutters using a nonabrasive cloth or sponge with warm soapy water is all that's needed. A garden hose may also be used. Concentrate on the areas where there may be stainless steel hardware attached to the shutters.

Make sure to remove any salt residue, tannin stains caused by trees and any other marks created by local industry / automotive exhaust residue, as these chemicals also have corrosive properties.

On completion of the cleaning process, spray a light film of silicone lubricant to any operational hardware such as the tracking system if you have one. Please ensure these areas are fully dry prior to this application.
